Road Racing

The Pony Shop Juniors team participates in a number of USA Cycling road events during the spring and summer depending on the races scheduled for that year. Some past events that have been well attended are: Kenosha, WI (March/April); Lincoln Park, Chicago (April); Fox River Grove, IL (May); Snake Alley/Quad Cities, IA/IL (May-Memorial Weekend); Tour of America's Dairyland, WI (2-weeks mid June); the Intelligentsia Series in northern Illinois and Chicagoland (mid-July); and Kankakee, IL (July). Check BikeReg and USACycling's event calendar for up-to-date event information and registration.

Gravel Rides and Racing

There are numerous opportunities to ride gravel rides and races within easy riding or driving distance from greater Chicago. The team organizes a free gravel ride/informal race in Dekalb, IL, typically the Sunday before Memorial Day. The sign up is free but riders are encouraged to raise money for World Bicycle Relief. The other gravel events the team attends are typically Barry Roubaix, in early springtime near Kalamazoo, MI; Rough Road 100, the first weekend in April in Morris, IL; and often a trip to the Elizabeth, IL area's "driftless region" on Memorial Day weekend or over the summer. Late summer in August and September the team does Sunday rides on the Des Plains River Trail to start building endurance for cyclocross. Check BikeReg for the latest event details.
